Import menus

Choose a source

Use Square when it owns the working catalog, Untappd for a supported Business tap-list source, or the local file reader for a one-time PDF, photo, or text migration. Pick the destination menu before starting.

Read a file or text

1. Choose one PDF, JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 20 MB, or paste menu text.
2. PDF.js reads embedded PDF text. Tesseract reads English text from photos and scanned pages in the browser. Files remain on the device.
3. For predictable pasted text, put one item and final price on each line, or separate section, name, description, type, size, and price with tabs or vertical bars.

Enable recognition for every PDF page when headings are selectable but the item list is an image. Currency amounts are copied; Venue Menus does not convert currencies.

Read a URL

Paste a public webpage, PDF, photo, or text URL and choose Read URL. The server downloads the source without storing it. PDF and photo recognition stays on your device. Review the extracted text, then choose Review rows. Sites that block downloads or require login need pasted text or an uploaded file.

Review every row

Correct the section, name, description, type, serving size, and price. Uncheck anything you do not want. Rows with matching section, name, type, and description combine into multiple servings; repeated serving labels must be corrected.

Saving is atomic and appends the selected rows. Existing items remain, nothing publishes, and a request token prevents a retry from adding the same batch twice.

Connected imports

Square

Choose the relevant Square branch. Imports preserve the external catalog relationship so later catalog refreshes can update the draft. Square-owned prices stay editable in Square.

Untappd

Enter a public Untappd venue URL, brewery URL, or Business embed URL. Public venue imports read the displayed beer menu; brewery imports read up to 25 publicly visible catalog beers and preserve previously imported beers. Public imports preserve local sizes and prices; new items start at $0. Connected lists refresh daily at 9 AM in the venue timezone, and Refresh now retries or pulls changes on demand. Complete venue menus reconcile removed beers; brewery catalogs do not indicate current availability.

Limits and boundaries

One 20 MB file, up to 10 PDF pages, and 100 reviewed serving rows per save. Photo recognition reads English.

If something goes wrong

Correct extracted text or rows before saving. A retry token prevents duplicate rows after a lost response.
